My name is Jenny Hernandez. I am a Family licensed therapist at Children Counseling Services. Here are few things about me and my experience in the field of child therapy. I went to Arizona State University to do my bachelor’s degree in art of Life Science and physiology. During my undergraduate studies, I did a minor in women studies and participated in multiple biomedical research programs around the country. After graduating with my bachelors, I participated in a post-bachelor program at Arizona State University where I discovered something was missing in my career. I started working in a domestic violence shelters and found a place where I can make a difference. After working a few years there, I decided to start working on Southwest Human Development as Family Support Partner. After a while I started working in the Good Fit Counseling Center as a case manager and I found my passion and an opportunity to work with many families. I strive to help families improve the relationships they have amongst themselves. I enjoy helping them work with their past experiences to obtain the strength to create new realities. Helping health and enhancing lives is what drives me. I went back to school and finish a Master's degree in Social Work and I have been working as child therapist since 2014. I have received numerous trainings in Child Parent Psychotherapy, treatment with victims of sexual abuse and their families, and treatment for domestic violence survivors, to name a few. As an immigrant Latina, I feel privileged to be a bilingual, bicultural therapist who can understand the many struggles minorities face in their everyday lives. As a part of this new adventure, I also will like to integrate my faith which is a crucial key in my personal life to offer faith based services to those who may be interested in it.
